DCNC 2019 Charity Event at L'Aqua was a Success!

The DCNC 2019 Charity Event co-hosted by BACS Contamination Control and Grosvenor Engineering Group on 4 April at L’Aqua in Cockle Bay Wharf, Sydney was a huge success. We had 162 attendees representing 66 organisations. That’s 30% more people and 10 new companies participating in this year’s event compared to last year’s.

Grosvenor Managing Director Nicholas Lianos gave the keynote speech entitled “Gatekeepers of Knowledge” describing the role suppliers play in the incredible growth of the Australian data centre industry. Joe Pitchford, BACS National Sales Manager, sparked a friendly rivalry between the Aussies and the Brits before posing some thought-provoking questions to the Q&A Panel of Nicholas Lianos (Grosvenor Engineering Group), John Jakovcevic (STULZ), Chris Flanagan (Fujitsu) and Ben Lyle (Icon). And BACS owner Bob Allan’s site induction and creative pronunciation of John Jakovcevic’s name drew a few laughs.

Through the generosity of sponsors and attendees, DCNC 2019 is able to make a donation to the Australian Seniors Computer Clubs Association (ASCCA). But as ASCCA president Nan Bosler said, the best part of the evening for her was not the money, but the exposure. Now many more people know about this worthy cause.

Fireworks in Darling Harbour were perfectly timed to go off during the charity raffle draw. Congratulations to Matthew Wright, Flor Pena, Vannah Wang, Andrew Hesketh, Joe Pitchford, Lee Stewart and Richard Farrell who all went home with prizes.
